Told me a damaged nerve in my back was causing me to lose strength in my right leg. Sent me back to work on full duty knowing that that means I'm back to climbing on top of school buses. I'm pretty sure that if you go to them with workers comp they are going to treat you like a second rate citizen. Dr. McCarran seem knowledgeable and was pretty nice but after him telling me that it was obvious that lack of strength on my right side could be troublesome. His nurse gave me a note saying I should have no problems climbing bending lifting. my jaw dropped. I was shocked at this so much that I had to ask twice while there. Then had to call again once I made it to the house. Calling them was a big upset. The lady that answers the phone wasn't any help but said she would pass the message along.... 3 days later I'm still waiting. I feel that they treated me differently mostly because it was through worker's comp. So much so that after I spent time talking about it with my wife I decided to hire a lawyer to review everything and see if they come to the same conclusion.

I've previously had surgery on my knee, but my surgeon is out of the country now. I have been denied by 4 surgeons in Central Arkansas!

I injured both ankles at the gym. I rested for several weeks, took ibuprofen and kept them elevated. Went back to the gym, modified my workout but tendonitis flared up in both ankles and I was having difficulty walking. Not wanting to mess with my mobility at 61, I needed a good assessment, diagnosis and treatment recommendations. I called to ask for their foot/ankle specialist and got an appointment the next day. (Bad sign #1). I was seen by James L Head, MD. I had X-rays. He looked at my feet, asked where/how they hurt. I said I had hot pain radiating up both legs and told my gym story. He said "Well, at your age (61) it's probably arthritis so take Motrin." With that he left the room. I contacted a physical therapist and trainer who's been in Conway for years and she said "that's what he tells everyone I've referred so I don't use him anymore". So I'm at home in ankle supports, feet up and iced and living on Aleve and can hardly walk and billed $120 for the pleasure. I've never written a review, let alone a negative one and this is a very young doc just starting out so I decided to call him and express my concern. I called (was on hold for 12 minutes) and left a message. Someone else called, was very short and hateful and said he wouldn't be available for 2 days and she "couldn't say whether or not he'll even call". I'm a RN with 30 years of practice. Don't waste your time, money or deductible. Go to Little Rock.

The surgery was good, but their system malfunctioned for one of my visits and showed I didn't have a PCP. So they decided to wait four months after my surgery to bill me for the visit. They told me it's on me to fix it and get my insurance to cover it. That it said I didn't have a Pcp and even though it was their fault for accepting me as a patient I was still the one that had to fix it. I've had a PCP for two years now. They were not helpful in the situation at all. They kept sending me notices in the mail saying my payments were late but I wasn't notified til the bill was more than four months overdue. Tried fixing it and they still waited a month to tell me it didn't work. I finally just started a payment plan to get it paid so I would never have to deal with them again. I'd rather drive to Little Rock or somewhere else than deal with this awful clinic.

I refuse to call this office back to get an appointment, even if that means leaving the state, possibly country for surgery, I will do that before I fund this facility!

UPDATE: Dr Head returned my call. He listened and was gracious in hearing my concerns.

1 star rating is too much for this facility.

While I've never been a patient at Conway Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine, I have worked closely with this office professionally for years. I have always encountered a friendly and helpful attitude and a wonderful staff, specifically Emilee Butler in the billing office. Working with this medical office has been an absolute pleasure.

I called the billing/insurance dept to see if they accepted my insurance. As soon as I got the question out, they hung up on me. Aggravated due to the reviews I've previously read, I didn't want to call back, but given my situation, I was somewhat forced to do so. I called back, asked my insurance question again, was told they did accept my insurance, but when I asked to schedule an appt, I was hung up on again!
